| Sloan Valve Company Franklin Park, IL 197,000 Square Feet |
| In June of 1996, Olsson roofing undertook the project of reroofing 197,000 square feet
of a 30-year-old tar BUR roof system. Due to the flat gypsum decking and a myriad of
mechanical curbs throughout the roof system, Olsson recommended that Sloan select a system
that could best withstand the possibility of ponding water. In addition, Sloan was looking
for a roof that could provide a 20-year service life. Given these conditions, it was
agreed that a Koppers coal tar pitch, BUR system would best meet Sloan's needs. In 1996,
the Olsson production crew kept in constant communication with Sloan personnel in order to
coordinate a smooth reroofing project that did not interfere with any of the daily
manufacturing operations inside the facility. In a facility that produces hundreds of
thousands of dollars worth of products, including an infra-red activated valve, it was
imperative that Olsson not only provide a leak-free roof on a daily basis, but one that
maintained a clean workspace. According to Mr. Ken Peto, Environmental, Energy and
Utilities Manager for over 33 years at Sloan Valve, "Olsson's crew performed
exceptionally well over the course of the project." To learn more about this project, or how Olsson Roofing can help you, click here |
