200,000 Square Feet
Combination re-roofing and new construction

Development, growth and prosperity certainly have their impact on the public infrastructure.  Thanks to a successful bond issue, several aggressive, simultaneous projects were undertaken by West Aurora School District's architect, Perkins & Will of Chicago to expand and modernize several of the school buildings and associated facilities.   By far the largest and most ambitious project is the West Aurora High School project.

Olsson Roofing's role in this project began in 1996 with budget formulations for re-roofing 80% of the existing building.  Through surveys of the existing roof conditions we identified which roofs would be maintainable and which would require replacement.  Three roofing systems were chosen.  The arched, viewable roof areas utilized a fully adhered Sarnafil G410 white PVC roofing system over 3" polyisocyanurate insulation.  The remaining areas of new construction were covered with fully adhered EPDM over a tapered insulation system designed by Olsson and the re-roofing portion of the project is being completed using Fleeceback, the latest in roofing technology.

By far the most challenging aspect of this roofing project has been the re-roofing of the 24 existing roofs that were as much as 32 years old.  We were able to implement a new roofing system, called Fleeceback 100/120 EPDM, from Carlisle, a pre-eminent roofing system manufacturer for over 30 years.
